n furtherance of the Ondo State Government’s commitment to promoting volunteerism and civic engagement, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Volunteer Service and State Coordinator of the Nigerian National Volunteer Service (NNVS), Hon. Adeolu Iwakun, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, held a strategic engagement with leaders of Uniformed Volunteer-Involving Organizations (VIOs) in the state.
The meeting, held at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Akure, brought together representatives of several organizations including Man O’ War, Nigerian Red Cross, Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Nigerian Girls Guide Association, Scout Association, Muslim Leaders Ahmadiyya, Majlis Khuddam, Muslim Women Ondo State, WAI Brigade, Catholic Youth Ondo State, and Cadet Initiative.
Hon. Iwakun conveyed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s vision of strengthening volunteerism across Ondo State, emphasizing the Governor’s passion for community development and service to humanity.
He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to building an inclusive framework where volunteers, civil society, and government institutions can collaborate to accelerate the state’s overall growth and social impact.
Leaders of the various volunteer organizations commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for establishing the Volunteer Service Office, describing him as the first governor in the state’s history to institutionalize such an initiative. They lauded the effort as a milestone in recognizing and coordinating volunteer activities for the state’s development.
The groups also presented reports of their ongoing projects and highlighted the contributions of their members to social and humanitarian causes across Ondo State.
In a joint resolution, the organizations pledged their unwavering support for the Aiyedatiwa Administration, reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing service to humanity and partnering with the government for the progress of the state.
The engagement marks another step forward in fostering unity, purpose, and structured volunteerism as vital tools for sustainable development in the Sunshine State.
